Beer Brats with Caramelized Onions

Beer and brats are a classic combo for a reason—they’re just that good together. Simmered in beer and onions, then finished on the grill, these bratwursts are full of flavor. They’re great for backyard hangouts or weeknight grilling.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Joe’s Storemade Beer Bratwurst
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 12 oz beer (lager or amber works well)
  • 4 brat buns
  • Optional: mustard or sauerkraut for serving

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and add sliced onions. Cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until caramelized.
  2. Meanwhile, place brats in a large pot or skillet. Add the beer and enough water to cover.
  3. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10–12 minutes, then remove from liquid.
  4. Grill or pan-sear the brats for 5–7 minutes until browned.
  5. Serve on buns with caramelized onions and your favorite condiments.
